This Jaw Harp is made by a young Mongolian manufacturer who has just started to produce them. The result is quite impressive. The polished surface gives the Aman Khuur Yin Yang a noble appearance and the unusual design gives it an unusual look. The sandwich construction is unique - a great mounting technique - in which the reed is firmly embedded in the metal body. While the sound is mid-range in volume and intensity, its timbre is beautifully compact and clear. The Aman Khuur is especially recommended for rhythmic, percussive playing. A special feature is the very long end of the reed, which develops a wild dynamic of its own when the reed is plucked away from the face. This makes the end of the tongue oscillate strongly against the vibrations of the long part of the tongue. This creates an indescribable sound effect that is difficult to put into words. Just listen to the sound example. This extraordinary sound is rarely found on other Jaw Harps. The Aman Khuur Yin Yang is suitable for experienced players, as they are more likely to enjoy continuous and intense playing than beginners. As the tongue is not made with an angled support for the teeth, the Jaw Harp has little stability when pressed against the teeth. This requires strength and concentration if you want to play for a while.
A beautiful, remarkable first piece with a great sound!
