The CD Brummeisen is versatile: old music, folk, classical and improvisations on Jaw Harps.
About 250 years ago family enterprises in Molln (Austria) fabricated 2 million Jaw Harps per year and supplied Europe and the half of the world.
In 1991 Manfred and Robert Russmann started to play and worked with that instrument and reached a high skill soon. Since that time Manfred organised Jaw Harp workshops, concerts and symposia. An organizational highlight was the 3rd International Jaw Harp Congress (22th - 28th june 1998) in Molln (Austria). More than Jaw Harp artists, blacksmiths, musicologists from Japan, Yakutia, Vietnam, India, Russia, Europe and USA came together.
The CD Brummeisen is versatile: old music, folk, classical and improvisations on Jaw Harps. The beautiful tune "Babarawalzer" is dedicated to the patron saint of miners, weapon and Jaw Harp blacksmiths. The tune "Novemberreigen" with Jaw Harp and zither (Herbert Walter) is very moody. Guest on this CD with 3 songs is Anton Bruhin accompanied by Manfred Russmann with guitar. The folk tune "Minuett aus Platt" is a fantastic tune on its own. Top priority: "Concertino in D for Jaw Harp, mandora and orchestra" by J. G. Albrechtberger (1736-1809).
