Unfortunately, this Jaw Harp is no longer available and can not be supplied anymore. Since most Jaw Harps are handmade by individual craftsmen, it happens time and again that instruments disappear from the market when they are no longer produced.
But because it would be a shame to let this treasure of knowledge simply disappear into the digital afterlife, we have listed these Jaw Harps in our Jaw Harp Archive

From the deep south of the Mediterranean Sea come these rustic Marranzano Jaw Harps. In East-Sicily, in the shadow of Mt. Etna these precious Marranzani are hand-forged in the small workshop of Turi 'U Mericanu.
The model Ritorto is similar to the "standard" model Marranzano Turi 'U Miricanu Norma in terms of shape, haptics and sound. But the peculiarity is the elaborately twisted frame. This makes this Marranzano not only a feast for the ears, but also for the eyes.
Salvatore Petralia, known as "Turi, the American" spent some time of his younger life in Alaska - that's how he got the name. By the way, Turi is the short form of Salvatore. When Turi was 12 years old he began his apprenticeship in the workshop of master black smith Giovanni Giuffrida. Turi was the only apprentice to be privileged to get passed on the knowledge and secrets of Marranzano making from his master. That was because he was the youngest apprentice when the master was already old. So Turi could not become a competitor to Giovanni Giuffrida on the culturally important Marranzano market. Turi runs a black smith workshop since he's back from Alaska decades ago, but he didn't make Marranzani for many years. It was Giorgio Maltese - a well known Marranzano player, musician, instruments maker and music ethnologist - who convinced Turi some years ago to revive making Marranzani in the traditional style again. And here we have probably the currently best Marranzano mouth harps of Sicily.
Each of them is a unique item with a certain character. Similar is the sturdy frame shape and the crisp-elastic reed, which provokes properly a wild and fiery (Sicilian!) playing technique.
