The Pro 24 is the most affordable of the three Gonamombe Concert Mbiras with 24 lamellas.
The three models differ only in the material of the lamellas. The 24 lamellas of this Mbira model are made of high-tensile steel. In comparison, this steel is slightly less elastic than the other two steel types and not stainless, which requires a little more care.
The resonance body made of well stored Kiaat wood (Wild Teak), as well as the integrated rattling effects take the player on a sonic journey. For the virtuoso Mbira professional a very own musical cosmos opens up into unexpected and inspiring expanses.
The lamellas are tuned to whole tones, but can be retuned or fine-tuned with a small hammer: G2 - B2 - C3 - D3 - E3 - F3 - G3 - A3 - B3 - C4 - D4 - E4 - F4 - G4 - A4 - B4 - C5 - D5 - E5 - F5 - G5 - A5 (see also fingering chart at the product images)
High-quality workmanship and clean sound convince with this professional Mbira.
The package includes: - Mbira - authenticity certificate - care instructions - laminated coloured fingering chart/tones overview - acrylic stand
Kalimba Tuning - Simple and Efficient!
Anyone who plays a Kalimba regularly will certainly have noticed that the instrument begins to sound "inharmonic" or "weird" over time. Then the moment has come when you ask yourself, "What's going on here and how can I bring it back to its original condition?"
From the toy section to the stage: How the Kalimba became famous in the US and Europe
Looking at the European museum catalogue for musical instruments MIMO (Musical Instrument Museums Online), one can find almost 170 musical instruments under the keyword “lamellaphones in Africa”. Thereby one is often very different from another one.
