Murchunga Garuda Brass

Jaw Harp from Nepal

Hand-wrought brass Murchunga Jaw Harp from Nepal with a Garuda icon. Garuda is worshipped as the vehicle mount of the god Vishnu in Nepalese Hinduism. Also in other Asian countries, like India, Indonesia, Thailand and Mongolia, the semi-eagle god has an important meaning, often as a national symbol.
The sound of this extraordinarily designed Murchunga is quite simple.

Nepalese Jaws Harps are hand-forged in old tradition. The soft reeds give them a delicate sound rich in overtones. Shape and tone may vary from the photo or sound sample, as they are handmade. They are easy to play.
