The wooden sound plates at different lengths, arranged in a circle, already remind of a xylophone: our stirring xylophones are basically rolled up xylophones which are struck with a small wooden drumstick.
One can move the drumstick along the sound plates in a circle to produce a continuing tripping glissando. The sound plates can also be struck individually. Through the arrangement of the sound plates in a circle, a corpus is created which amplifies the sound. This instrument is popular among children of all ages, because very different sounds can be discovered with the stirring xylophone. Furthermore it trains the coordination between hands and ears and therefore can be used in early musical education.
