Usage of Cookies
What is it? What does it? What do we need it for?
Google Analytics is a helpful tool to analyse the traffic on a website including search terms, browsed pages, but also a malfunction analysis of the site. The use of analysation software like Google Analytics is an immanent part of running an online shop. We use Google Analytics in order to find problems on the site and to optimise our shop successively.
What are the data privacy regulations?
In Germany and the EU the use of anylisation software like Google Analytics is still a contentious issue. The main question seems to be whether an IP address is a personal information or not.
Therefore we decided to comply with the strictest requirements, recently the ones stipulated by the Data Privacy Commission of Hamburg (Germany) which contains the following:
1. A contract with Google about the data processing between the website operator and Google. The contract determines the liabilities of both sides - Google and us. If you are interested in the contract's text, see here (German only).
2. Notice about the possibility to opt-out from the tracking by Google Analytics. If you do not want to be tracked by Google Analytics, please install this browser add-on to permanently opt-out from Google Analytics tracking. Once installed this works for all websites using Google Analytics.
3. The tracking code of the Google Analytics implementation has to be modified with the function "AnonymizeIP". This anonymisation function reduces the last 8 digits of the tracked IP adress prior to any record.
Transmission of Payment Data
The transmission of payment data is solely done SSL-encrypted directly to secure, certified third-party payment providers (Payone, Paypal or Sofortüberweisung). Credit card data will not be collected, stored or processed directly from us at any time.
