Shakuhachi - Sora Student Maple

One-piece wooden Instrument - Made in Japan!

The sound of the emptiness - the Shakuhachi is a traditional Japanese bamboo flute that has its origins in Zen Buddhist meditation practice. It is also becoming more and more popular in modern music.

The sound of this instrument ranges from soft and breathy to bright metallic, lending the players considerable room for improvisation. incl. fingering chart(Western & Kinko)

In a small workshop in the mountains of Japan, these high-quality 2-piece shakuhachis are made by hand. Fine woods and layered bamboo are used. These instruments are conical, lacquered inside and have a matte, pleasant surface finish. The Kinko Utaguchi is painted in this version. Accurate tuning and intonation over more than 2 octaves characterize these instruments. The Student Maple Shakuhachi is kept simpler in appearance and made of one piece. Its sound is still very expressive in all octaves with soft timbre and clear nuances in the high notes. To learn the basic playing techniques, the finger holes are created in a smaller diameter, so also very tangible for smaller fingers or hands.
