With the Vargan Lighthouse the blacksmith Glazyrin has created a jaw harp that sounds powerful, voluminous and deep - almost bass-like. The atmospheric overtones can be wonderfully modulated and resonate for a very long time. The relatively soft reed was screwed twice into the aesthetically frame. Even beginners will enjoy this solid Russian Jaw Harp!
The decorated wooden box - developed by Glazyrin to fit this Vargan - is available optionally.
Russia is a country with a handful of jaw harp traditions: in Sakha/Yakutia, in the Altai, and in Tuva the Khomus (or Komus) is played; in Bashkortostan the Kubyz is known, and in Western Russia and in the big cities such as Moscow and St. Petersburg one can hear the name Vargan. An overview.
