With its 9 tone fields and the pentatonic scale in D minor, it is perfect for beginners, but can also be played on stage thanks to its clean and stable tuning.
The central bass note (ding) is tuned to D3. And in the chorus surrounding it are the notes A3, C4, D4, F4, G4, A4, C5, D5.
Crafted in Vietnam
Since 2001, we have been working with highly experienced and skilled metal craftsmen in Vietnam. In the early 2010s, when handpans became more and more popular, our partners already started to develop their first handpans, which then became better and better every year.
Now we are proud to introduce the latest generation, the Handpan Dreamland, which fully meets our own quality standards and which we are convinced can easily challenge more expensive Handpans on the market.
Construction
Normally, in this price range, you almost only find handpans made of nitrided steel, which has a much shorter resonance than the stainless steel used in our handpan. We didn't want to save money in the "wrong" place and compromise on sound quality.
How is our handpan crafted?
First, the two mechanically pre-formed wok-shaped half-shells are firmly joined together. Then the tone fields are hammered into the material by experienced instrument makers in precise craftmanship. As soon as the "rough structure" is in place, the individual notes are carefully tuned. This process is the most time-consuming and requires the most experience and a sharp ear. To ensure that the handpan is safely protected, a protective ring made of robust rubber is placed all around it. Finally, the protective cover is placed on top, the bag is wrapped around it.
Who is the Handpan Dreamland intended for?
Our Handpan Dreamland is definitely our recommendation for handpan newbies. Here you get an easy-to-play musical instrument in a scale or tuning that is perfect for beginners at an excellent price-performance ratio.
The pentatonic tuning is not only appealing to handpan newcomers, but also to all those who like to play intuitively and don't want to worry about a certain sequence of notes or dissonant tones. So you can enjoy the long reverberation in a relaxed and meditative way.
And those who like to take their handpan to a session in the park or by the campfire may not want to have an instrument worth several thousand bucks with them. The Handpan Dreamland is ideally suited for this purpose because it not only sounds really good, but is also sturdily built, cleanly tuned and rustproof.
In our opinion, it is certainly possible to play the Handpan Dreamland professionally on stage, even though it is an inexpensive handpan and, in a direct comparison, does not come close to handpans beyond triple that price.
Handling and care of the handpan
Auch wenn ein Schutzdeckel und eine gepolsterte Tasche im Lieferumfang enthalten sind, empfiehlt sich wie bei anderen Musikinstrumenten auch, ein sorgsamer Umgang mit der Handpan. Außerdem es kann nicht schaden, wenn du hin und wieder ihre Oberfläche mit einem weichen Tuch reinigst oder sie mit etwas Öl (z. B. Ballistol) vorsichtig behandelst. Und der Gummiring freut sich über einen gelegentlichen Spritzer Gummipflege (z. B. Silikonöl).
Even though a protective cover and a padded bag are included in the delivery, it is recommended to handle the handpan with care, as with other musical instruments. Also, it can't hurt to clean its surface with a soft cloth or to treat it carefully with a drop of oil (e.g. Ballistol) from time to time. And the rubber ring will appreciate an occasional splash of rubber care (e.g. silicone oil).
