The floral, playful ornaments on the frame and wooden case don't initially suggest the dark, eerily beautiful sound that the Vargan Berezenko Ultrabass Plus produces. Its deep timbre is clean and very detailed. Despite the rather soft reed, it can be super modulated. Jaw Harp maker Vladimir Berezenko has precisely adjusted the reed to the frame, so that you can create wonderfully dramatic sound carpets.
If you play the Vargan with breathing techniques of your throat, you can create tense sounds reminiscent of horror movies. Deep, vibrating sounds - that are oppressive and at the same time arousing, heralding the inescapable. Spooky!
