This DVD "The Sound of Footsteps" is a 48-minute journey through traditional Sicilian sound worlds in 2011. We accompany Kai, a German wandering musician who immerses himself deeply into Sicilian culture in encounters with musicians, instrument makers and other artists, listening to ancient stories and attending mystical rituals. In this document, the various traditional musical instruments of Sicily, such as, the Marranzano jaw harps, tambourines, flutes, bagpipes, etc., are scientifically analyzed for their production, their playing techniques and their traditional and contemporary cultural significance.
This beautifully narrated documentation is nevertheless a small treasure. And a rarity, too.
