The nipple gong has a long tradition in Southeast Asian music. It is played at religious and secular festivals from Myanmar, Thailand and the Philippines to Indonesia and is a central element of the respective music ensembles. Nipple gongs are struck individually or in rows of gongs. While the smaller gongs sound high and clear, the large gongs resonate for a long time with a deep, full sound and shine with their multi-faceted overtones.
