The joyful melody "Lasst uns froh und munter sein“ (Let us be happy and cheerful) of this music box probably dates back to the 19th century and describes the childlike excitement of St. Nicholas, which is celebrated on the sixth of December. At that time, children set out gift plates the night before and then were pleased in the morning with the sweets that St. Nicholas had brought.

You will find the first three verses (in German) of the song on the small box of the music box, so that you can sing along!

The gentle melody sounds more powerful when you remove the little musical mechanism from its lovingly decorated box.
