The Vargan Lotos has been handmade by the so far less known craftsman Gimadiev. He has created a harmonious composition of a sonorous sound, a pleasant feel and an extraordinary design. This jaw harp is designed with a lotus blossom that stands for purity and liberation from earthly life, especially in Hindu and Buddhist Asia. Her sound is dark, almost mystical and can be creatively modulated with tongue, throat and diaphragm. This mouth harp's sound is very clean, both in quiet and loud tones. Due to the sturdy frame it is not sensitive to pressure.
Russia is a country with a handful of jaw harp traditions: in Sakha/Yakutia, in the Altai, and in Tuva the Khomus (or Komus) is played; in Bashkortostan the Kubyz is known, and in Western Russia and in the big cities such as Moscow and St. Petersburg one can hear the name Vargan. An overview.
