The Lullaby (Wiegenlied) sounds when you crank the little music box. For almost two centuries, the well-known Cradle Song by Johannes Brahms accompanied many babies and children to sleep.
The Lullaby was also very popular as music for music boxes and became a real classic, because before there were radios or streaming services, families listened to melodies with mechanical music boxes. The first musical experience children had, was often Brahms' Wiegenlied, because it was not only particularly popular as a music box, but was also sung often and with pleasure. Brahms' lullaby probably goes back to a popular love poem that lovers sang to each other as early as the Middle Ages to wish each other a safe night.
You can amplify the soothing melody by placing the little music box - with or without its informative packaging - on a larger resonating body and playing it. This can be a table, chair, shelf or even a cajon.
