When the sun goes down on balmy summer evenings, the penetrating, loud call of the swift can be heard. Although it often nests on abandoned buildings, its voice is familiar to many people. In contrast, the song of the redwing is less well known as it is rarely heard. It chirps vividly and flutes its song.
With the redwing and swift bird call, you can compete with both birds. You can add variety to the birdsong by playing with the intensity of your breath and tempo and experimenting with the finger holes of the small effect instrument.
