South of Jakutsk, in a small village near the Lena river, Khristoforov forges traditional Yakutian jaw harps, such as the Khomus Khristoforov Large. The fine harmonics of this jaw harp are vibrantly transmitted to the whole body and quickly lead into trance-like conditions. In this way one can sense and feel the thrilling power of the old shamanic rituals. The slow, meditative play unfolds particularly beautifully. Its tautt, sharpened reed is easy to pluck and sounds well balanced. Khristoforov concentrated on the sound when forging, while the frame was kept rather simple. Convincing Khomus with tradition!
