This high-grade Koukin Jaw Harp made by Japanese master blacksmith Yamazaki is based on a 300 years old illustration discovered in the Iwaki city archive. Jaw Harps have been popular in the early modern era (edo period). After the Jewsharp almost "died out" in 20th century Japan, in the last years a few grandiose black smiths emerged to create some of the best Jaw Harps worldwide - in the spirit of perfect Japanese craftsmanship.
The "Kiyakon" is a quite small model with an Afghan frame shape. Frame and reed are of the same unique material as the other outstanding models of Yamazaki are made from: a shiny brass and a kick-ass dynamic spring steel.
The reeds other end is wrapped with the string in the style of a Japanese sword (Katana) handle. The Kiyakon Jaw Harp comes on an own fragrant cedar block.
